拼多多如何吃饱:双十一的「升级」与黑五的

11月28日,拼多多公布财报,三季度营收同比增长65.1%,当日美股收盘大涨12.6%。 

与刚刚公布创纪录经营利润的京东相比,拼多多同样创历史新高的104亿元经营利润来的毫不费力。 

京东高举“降本增效”大旗,营销费用同比减少2%,裁员后的管理费用更是大减14%,只有研发投入增长了3%。 

而拼多多不单销售和营销支出同比大增40%,管理费用因为股权激励爆炸式增长171%,研发费用也继续增长了11%。

拼多多在财报会上延续了过去“顾左右而言他”的风格,极力避免过多透露信息,但CEO陈磊依然透露了拼多多“消费升级”的情况:“消费者对于品质好货的需求也日益旺盛。今年以来,和我们合作的品牌越来越多,3C、家电和美妆等多个品类中,我们都得到了消费者不错的反馈。” 

品牌商家占比上升也在近期得到了券商调研后的确认。这个趋势在年报披露客单价数据时相信会得到进一步的确认。 

品牌商家入驻会使得变现率提高,而广告业务的服务器和人员成本相对固定,这也是拼多多本季度利润高增长的原因。

另一方面,拼多多当前的战略项目分别是出海、“超星星”(提升品牌商占比)和多多买菜。从三季度财报来看,后面两个完成的都想当不错:包括多多买菜在内的佣金收入达到了70亿元,同比增速高达102%;这个季度的收入大增,“超星星”居功至伟。 

接下来就看这几个月搅动北美市场的“出海C位”Temu能不能锦上添花了。 

“升级”与“降级”

三季度各个电商的成绩说明——过往注重仪式感和消费品位的中产们还在涌入拼多多,而四季度这个趋势极有可能延续。 

与低下骄傲头颅的中产类似,暂时把形象和定位放在一边的品牌也开始在拼多多去库存。

连续五年双十一天猫美妆前十的薇诺娜,今年在大促期间坐上了拼多多“超星星”美妆品牌的王座。 

COO顾聘聘亲自带队的“超星星”计划依然延续着上一季度的威力。今年618,拼多多首次开辟了“品牌专场”,广告收入同比增速达到了39.23%,位列各互联网大厂之首;在三季度,广告收入增速更是增加到58%。

“超星星”计划允许品牌旗舰店自由定价,拼多多直接补贴消费者;加入该计划的品牌投入1块钱,就可以获得价值2-3块钱的广告位。 

其实,“超星星”小组去年初就成立了,COO顾聘聘也亲自拉了个品牌单子。但当时大部分品牌还放不下身段,大都是接着经销商的名义在拼多多上卖货。 

在中国,“京东跌倒,拼多多吃饱”正在上演。 拼多多正在定位上移逐渐,不断承接中产人群的消费力。 

而在美国,定位中产的线下超市塔吉特也输给了走廉价路线的沃尔玛。现在,轮到初来扎到的拼多多向京东的“美国师傅”亚马逊出招了。 

面对大洋彼岸,拼多多选择了高举“低价”大旗。 

感恩节假期带来的“黑五”和“网一”是美国一年当中最重要的购物节,这也是拼多多海外版Temu出海后第一次参与,但是,它的促销力度甚至要超过更早在美国取得成功的估值千亿的SHEIN:部分商品只要1美分,甚至出现只卖1.5美元的风衣。

一方面,美国10月CPI同比增速依然高达7.7%,持续走高的物价抑制了老百姓的购买力;另一方面,经济放缓已经引起硅谷大规模的裁员潮:马斯克入主的推特裁掉了一半的人,做元宇宙不顺的Meta和三年员工数增长近两倍达到160万人的亚马逊也紧随其后开展了万人以上的裁员计划。 

实力雄厚的互联网公司也不得不甩包袱,美国的房地产行业在加息的流动性紧缩面前也乌云密布。习惯了月光的美国白领们无奈之下加入“消费 降级”的大军了。 

这个时候,Temu的发力无疑是“正中下怀”。 

Temu在美国最大的对手还是电商巨头亚马逊。

虽然亚马逊是京东的模板,但它在美国的定位并不仅仅是中产阶级。Profitero的报告显示,亚马逊连续五年成为了美国物价最低的电商平台,价格比其他11家主要的电商平台平均要低14%。 

现在算是个不错的时机,因为众多商家“苦亚马逊久矣”,正准备用脚投票。

亚马逊保证低价的方式和中国电商巨头们类似。如果卖家不能确保在亚马逊上的价格是最低价,那么就会在搜索结果中被降权或者受到不能发布新产品的惩罚。 

“黑五”前夕,亚马逊再次宣布了因物流费上涨,而且,亚马逊的广告费也在不断涨价。 

Marketplace Pulse数据显示,亚马逊今年6月的广告平均点击成本比2020年同期上涨超过50%。但商家的平均转化率却仍然徘徊在12%至13%之间。从2016到2021年,亚马逊卖家每年的广告成本占总成本的比例从1.1%上升到了4.6%。

但是,玩法并不一样的Temu却找到了破局的方法。

流量和“白牌”得解决一个

在拼多多上市的时候,创始人黄峥的定位是“Costco+Disney”。但在大洋彼岸,没有微信,也就没有“砍一刀”,拼多多很难在流量端成为迪士尼。拼多多过去的电商主站和多多买菜的成功都深度依赖腾讯系的流量加持。但是,Temu仍有妙招。 

北美的流量越来越贵,不过Temu在美国还在继续它的“社交裂变”打法。

比如“Give 40%,Get 60%”的活动,用户在社交平台上向朋友分享四折优惠码,可以得到六折购物券。 

还有Referral Bonus(推介奖励),成功邀请5位新用户可以得到20美元现金奖励。这种方式的获客成本仅仅为4美元,远远低于跨境电商独立站的20-50美元。

另一方面,拼多多还可以考虑和业务互补、流量充裕的TikTok抱团取暖。 英国的开拓不利,让即将在北美开启电商业务的TikTok更可能接受合作的方式。 

连续创业过的拼多多创始人黄峥对于跨境电商业务并不陌生。他曾经创办过跨境婚纱电商乐贝,现在拼多多的CEO陈磊和COO顾娉娉分别是第一大和第二大股东。 

2016年,乐贝的婚纱业务超过了兰亭集势,成为了全球最大的婚纱电商。 

在欧洲红极一时的VOVA的创始团队也是黄峥的朋友。 

在2018和2019年,拼多多有不少员工参与过VOVA的项目,陈磊甚至还给他们贡献过代码。当时在拼多多内部流传过一个设想:如果能用三年时间超越Wish,那么VOVA将被拼多多收购并成为其国际业务部门。 

拼多多没有选择东南亚市场可能和VOVA当时在该地区的失败有关。不要说现在,就在VOVA起势的当年,东南亚电商市场的竞争就已经白热化了。但如今,Temu却选择了VOVA放弃的美国市场。

那是因为,VOVA虽然对外宣称做白牌,但收入的一多半却来自仿品。去年10月,VOVA服务器停止运营。 

VOVA一度也尝试过加大对白牌商品的引流,但已经习惯了买仿品的客户们却不感兴趣。 

“如何做好白牌”的难题现在抛给了Temu。

Temu切入的时机在供给端也还是有机会的。经过2020年跨境电商的大爆发,许多卖家大干快上,积累了大量库存,所以Temu在货源上是不用发愁。同今年二季度的中国市场一样,“去库存”的逻辑也在跨境电商领域正在上演。

出海不易。 

TikTok算是最成功的典型,它在流量市场站住脚之后,仍在试图复制在国内同时占据流量和电商两大市场的成功。估值千亿美元的SheIn算是小有成就,但还远没有达到与亚马逊这样的巨头掰手腕的程度。

阿里速卖通和京东在海外的发展都不尽如人意,现在机会给到拼多多,它能把握住吗? 

一路狂奔的Temu虽然在享受着市场变化的利好,但当用户的初始兴趣褪去、Temu也砸不起“百亿补贴”的时候,一向注重商品品质的海外用户又该拿什么理由成为回头客呢?
