在营销这件事上,肯德基完胜麦当劳?

“疯四文学”的威力有多大?

一个“疯狂星期四”的肯德基促销日却引发了互联网上的“疯四文学”,而在此之前,今年肯德基联名宝可梦的可达鸭玩具,更是让年轻人在各路社交媒体上狂热“上头”。

作为肯德基的宿敌麦当劳,在这一年的营销事件里,似乎冷清了不少。

肯德基和麦当劳,搞起营销来,究竟谁更胜一筹?这应该是困扰所有人的一个问题。

当肯德基的“疯四文学”横空出世后,整个营销界又多了一个现象级的案例,它的影响力波及之广泛和深刻,早已超越了广告营销界,而成为一种社会文化,无数网友前赴后继为它添砖加瓦,达到了所有广告人梦寐以求的境界。

在这样一个YYDS的顶级营销IP前,肯德基的宿敌麦当劳就毫无招架之力了吗?

01 复盘肯德基这一年, 营销做对了什么?

所谓“疯四文学”,是指围绕肯德基疯狂星期四这个长期活动,网友进行的各种玩梗创作,它非常规律地在每周四出现,然后进行病毒式传播。

几乎每个人的微信群里都曾看到过类似这样的段子:“我本是上市公司的老总,却被诡计多端的奸人所害!下属弃我!股东逐我!甚至清空我的股份!重来一生,我只想夺回我的公司!今天肯德基疯狂星期四,谁请我吃?”

嗯,大概就是这种离谱且无厘头的风格,在网友集体的智慧下,衍变出无数版本,从“秦始皇复活”到“柯南变回工藤新一”,从“夫妻冷战”到“黄色小广告”,没有什么话题逃得过“疯四”的席卷,几乎所有你能想到的互联网新梗旧事,都能被装在这个框里。

在微博上,关于#肯德基疯狂星期四#的话题,创下了20亿阅读量和400万讨论量。

在这场网络集体狂欢背后,其实已经无从追溯“疯四文学”爆火背后的传播脉络,甚至官方也始料未及,肯德基疯狂星期四活动诞生于2018年,而有迹可靠的“疯四文学”最早流传于2020年,这种“延时性”更接近于各种综合因素集体导致的一种“意外”,被失控的社交网络中的流行潜意识选中,席卷成为一场裹挟全网的当代互联网“行为艺术”。

“疯四文学”的火热,当然少不了运气,但如果你觉得肯德基只是那个地主家的傻儿子,只等着被天大的馅饼砸中,那就大错特错了。

“媒介杂志”曾报道,肯德基的广告费用已从传统的全媒体,较大程度倾斜至以社交媒体为代表的的互联网平台,微博、微信、抖音等大型互联网媒体平台都是其主要投放阵地。除此之外,肯德基还会对营销内容进行“动态运营”,包括检测社交平台的实时动态,比如微薄热搜等,寻找合适热点话题进行参与内容生产,从而优化营销内容。

比如这一次,官方就亲自下场了,2021年12月,肯德基顺势而为举办了一场“疯四文学盛典”活动,全网寻找“疯四”文豪,将“疯四文学”的热度继续推高。

“疯四文学”偶然性太多,很容易让人忘记肯德基作为营销大师的其它案例,在这些它自身主导的传播事件中,你能发现,肯德基对于当代年轻人的心理洞察以及流行文化的了解有多么深入,可谓是当之无愧的王者。

比如年初的1月4日,工作日第一天,肯德基联名泡泡玛特推出盲盒,消费者在肯德基门店以99元购买指定的家庭桶套餐即可获得DIMOO盲盒一个,根据规则,要想集齐整套玩偶,至少需要购买6份套餐,而其中稀有隐藏款出现概率是1:72。

在这个活动中,肯德基还采取了饥饿营销的方式,套餐限量263880份。盲盒套餐本身蕴藏的赌性,经限量供应无限放大后,彻底诱惑出了人性中潜藏的“魔鬼”,一经推出便火爆全网成功出圈,有消费者不惜一次性斥资10494元购买106份套餐,还有消费者为“求娃”而购买“代吃”服务。

因为参与者过于疯狂,导致大量食物浪费,活动最终被中消协点名批评,虽然这样的价值观不可取,但从营销层面而言,这也侧面佐证了此次创意的成功。

IP联名大法太好,肯德基并未因此止步。

5月份,肯德基推出的儿童节套餐玩具可达鸭火爆全网,成功接棒了瑞幸椰云拿铁的流量大旗,又一次成为新消费市场的天选之子,甚至让可达鸭玩具在二手平台上炒至上千元。

而对可达鸭的精准选择,让肯德基再度戳中了大众G点。

《精灵宝可梦》本身承载着无数8090后的童年美好回忆,尤其是在“怀旧杀”和“回忆杀”普遍流行的今天,更容易唤起大众共鸣,更何况卡达鸭本身便是众多宝可梦中最富有童趣的存在,呆萌而低幼,其各类表情包早已风行网络,有高赞评论道:“(可达鸭)对小孩太幼稚,对大人刚刚好”。

此外,肯德基还吸取了“疯四文学”的成功经验,有意引导网友在社交平台上对可达鸭进行二度创作,将“参与式文化”发挥到极致,将影响力进一步推向更远的地方。

02 “你追我赶”与“你有我也有”

你肯德基有如此多火爆全网的现象级营销案例,我麦当劳就甘于寂寞吗?

今年2月份,一首广告歌《我喜欢你》在B站登顶热榜,被年轻人们疯狂转发,播放量量迅速突破了1100万,歌坛灭霸腾格尔那泥石流般的独特唱腔,让这首歌充满了魔性的“热辣”,MV视频下方的高赞评论这样说道:“听滕老爷子一曲,我仿佛在草原一边狂奔一边狂往嘴里塞狠辣鸡腿堡,鼻涕口水满天飞。”

“我就喜欢”是由I'm Lovin' It翻译而来,是麦当劳在2003年在全球首次推行的slogan,也是众多品牌宣传语中最脍炙人口的一句,可谓是麦当劳标志性的符号。这首广告曲最早在国内是由王力宏演唱,从之前的“大众情人”到如今的“魔性大叔”,麦当劳对于两届演唱者的挑选,就足以看出其对于流量密码的把握能力。

随后麦当劳借着热度联手腾格尔推出了相关活动,消费者到麦当劳餐厅唱出“我就喜欢,辣辣辣辣辣”,有机会领取麦辣鸡腿汉堡买一送一券。

略有遗憾的是,这首歌虽然爆发力很强,但却不具备长尾效应,没有像“疯四文学”那样不断被二次创作,产生持续的渗透影响,很快又被新的热点所替代。

但这是否就意味着麦当劳在营销上的风头被肯德基盖过了?

这么理解营销,就太狭隘了。

毕竟麦当劳也在去年年末推出过“汉堡盒猫窝”,不但让10万份猫窝瞬间一抢而空,更是同样引爆了社交媒体。

杰罗姆·麦卡锡在《基础营销学》如此定义:营销是指某一组织为满足顾客而从事的一切活动。而满足顾客的终极目的是什么,自然是企业利润的最大化,尤其是在强调“品效销一体”的今天,无法转化成真正销售额的营销都是在耍流氓,这也是互联网效果广告能大行其道的原因。

参与“疯四文学”狂欢的人群中,有多少只是在玩梗而并未真正去消费“疯狂星期四”的?

无论是肯德基还是麦当劳,其实在公域营销上争得热火朝天的同时,各自在私域上的比拼就显得不那么被外界注意,而这可能是制胜的关键。

私域争夺赛,肯德基和麦当劳的建设,其实没有多少差别,二者的数字化营销也早早就暗战开始。

以麦当劳为例,2018年,麦当劳在“i麦当劳”小程序推出线上点餐服务,10个月日活用户突破20万,随后陆续上线“i麦当劳甜品站”“i麦乐送”等9款小程序。

到了2022年6月份,根据媒体资料显示,麦当劳中国总会员超过2亿,有接近4.5万个社群,社群中92%都是会员。在麦当劳所有订单中,数字化点单比例超过85%,其中小程序占到80%。

麦当劳会员的线上化迁移,是一场旷日持久的“精心谋划”。

对于每一个走进麦当劳消费的顾客,应该都会对麦当劳店员谆谆善诱的引导话术印象深刻,告诉你只要扫码进行下单,就能不用排队随意点餐,很多优惠组合套餐一目了然,碰到店里人不多的时候,你可能还会犹豫下,但对方会紧接着强调只要线上下单,就可以免费领取优惠券,或者一份“麦辣鸡翅”,你环顾四周,发现从收银台到取餐处,从电子操作屏到桌贴,目之所及全都是二维码,自然就打开了微信的扫一扫。

这还没完。

下单完成后,平台会自动跳转到取餐码页面,显示下单餐厅微信社群的二维码,“会员日福利抢先领”、“福利官每日实力跪粉”等话术会诱惑你加入会员社群,进群之后,你会发现原来麦当劳有这么多的促销活动,有这么多优惠券可以领取,而这些都会通过小程序来实现闭环。

无论是作为普通会员增加消费频率,还是被更多的优惠引导成为付费会员,都可以算作私域运营的成功,而整个链条中,麦当劳有无数的运营小细节在进行引导,并且还在不断优化和调整,比如优惠券的福袋分享裂变,比如今年将9个小程序合并为一个。

只要你进入到这个庞大的私域流量池中,就已经被数字化营销无远弗届的边界所囊括,而这里面产生的数据,又将优化麦当劳后续营销的精准度,推动这个营销生态进行螺旋式上升。

以上是对于麦当劳私域营销的拆解,其实也能套到肯德基身上,二者在线上功能、会员服务、引流设置等方面几乎做到“你有我就有”,但肯德基凭借着在中国店铺数量的绝对优势,在2022年6月份左右,拥有3.3亿名会员,会员销售占整体销售额的62%,数字订单收入占比87%。

03 完美营销能否挽救 “中年危机”

肯德基和麦当劳在中国营销的疯狂发力,背后却是难以阻挡的市场下滑。

7月底,麦当劳和百盛中国相继发布了二季度财报,前者净利润下滑56%,后者净利润下滑46%。百胜中国旗下超九成的营收来自肯德基和必胜客,其中,肯德基占七成,必胜客仅占两成。

根据财报,麦当劳、肯德基在中国市场的同店销售额都出现了负增长,这自然是有疫情影响的原因,毕竟餐饮行业是重灾区。

但疫情的影响终究是短期的,比疫情更让二者担忧的,是市场份额不断被挤压。

近年来,中式快餐品牌不断崛起,大米先生、老乡鸡、老娘舅等品牌发展神速,三家也全都在今年递交了上市申请,中式快餐第一股将在其中诞生。

肯德基和麦当劳正在深耕的下沉市场,也将直面中式快餐品牌的竞争。

另外一方面,预制菜在另一个战场掀起了“吃饭革命”,其对于供应链的升级,让洋快餐最后的工业化和标准化优势都不复存在,不仅更便捷,而且更符合疫情之下的居家就餐环境。

为了拓展市场,肯德基和麦当劳也分别在奶茶和咖啡赛道上进行了发力,肯德基孵化在苏州开出了爷爷自在茶,麦咖啡在麦当劳餐厅单独开设了柜台。

进入中国市场30年,肯德基和麦当劳也不可避免陷入了“中年危机”,伴随着中国消费市场的一日千里,他们当初的洋气和高级早已是昨日黄花,二者如今在营销上的不断加码,也是在谋求品牌年轻化的过程,不断证明自己依然还很懂当下的年轻人。

可能今年肯德基靠着“疯四文学”与“可达鸭效应”营销声量猛增,但保不齐明年麦当劳就继续找到“猫盒热潮”反将一军,年轻人总是在追求新鲜感。

只是问题在于,消费的格局已然发生改变,年轻人在玩梗结束后,还能有多少真正走进店里去消费?
