北京时间2月23日晚,网易云音乐发布了2022年财报。

财报显示,2022年,网易云音乐净收入90亿元,同比增长28.5%;经调整净亏损从2021年的10.4亿减至1.1亿元,同比收窄89%。

过去一年,在线音乐独家版权瓦解后,网易云音乐得到了充足的喘息空间,不仅亏损大幅收窄,毛利率亦得到了改善,由2021年的2.0%提升到了14.4%。

乍看之下,网易云音乐似乎过得还不错,但从其各项数据涨幅的缩减,以及产品运营节奏来看,网易云音乐似乎想大干一场,却又无从发力。对稳坐赛道老二的网易云音乐而言,前面的腾讯音乐难以逾越,后起之秀汽水音乐威胁有限,自身难免陷入困顿期。

老二不好当

当下的网易云音乐,正变得越来越慢。

从营收层面来看,28.5%的同比增长数据,虽然在去年互联网承压的大环境下尚显可观,但纵向来看,相较过去2021年以前破百的同比增速,近两年的网易云音乐似乎碰到了陡坡。而其原因,则是多方面的。

先说在线音乐业务。得益于音乐赛道独家版权的瓦解,网易云音乐一直以来的版权心病得以缓解,这也在一定程度上对付费会员产生了积极作用。财报显示,2022年网易云音乐在线音乐服务收入为37亿元,同比增加12.4%;在线音乐月付费人数为3830万人,同比增长32%。

但问题在于,付费会员数的提升,并不能撑起网易云的增长逻辑。过去一年,网易云音乐用户体量仅实现了4%的增长,付费人数看似陡增,实则是付费率提升的表现。

换言之,在TME系产品群雄环伺之下,留给网易云音乐的蛋糕相当有限,毕竟就算独家版权解绑,补足缺失的版权仍需时间。因此作为“老二”,网易云音乐能做的不是从老大嘴里抢肉吃,而是如何更好地榨取现有用户的价值。

为此,网易云音乐延续了以价换量的思路,继续同此前的优酷视频芒果TV、快看漫画等平台合作捆绑销售会员,并扩展会员权益,以此撬动付费会员体量。在此背景下,网易云音乐在线音乐付费率虽然由2021年的15.8%上升至2022年的20.2%,但人均付费额却继续滑落到了6.6元。

好在就结果来看,这波以价换量并不算亏,一方面是营收实现了增长,另一方面则是在线音乐内容可供用户重复消费,并不会面临做一锤子买卖的长视频平台那般严峻的会员续费问题。

只是,以价换量作为一剂猛药尚可,但长期服用难免伤身,随着网易云用户体量滞涨,网易云亦优化了会员定价,使人均付费额在2022年下半年得以回升。

而网易云的胃口,远不止如此。在提升付费会员人均付费额的同时,其也将目光投向了那些始终不肯付费的用户,榨取用户残值。

今年初,网易云音乐学起了鹅步,试了试看广告免费听歌模式的水。简而言之,非付费会员能够通过看广告获得数小时的免费听歌,以此打通那些听歌频率较低的轻度用户的变现渠道。客观地说,此番尝试可以说是网易云同轻度用户的非零和博弈,但就整体来看,该模式换得的广告收入或许还不够其塞牙缝。

因此,单靠在线音乐,网易云很难去谈什么“成长性”——不论是坐拥6亿用户的国内“老大哥”TME,还是海外用户付费率近5成的“白月光”Spotify,均没能靠工具属性较强的“播放器”破局,更不必说用户体量、付费率平平无奇的网易云。而这,正是工具化出身的网易云,最终选择社区化路途的重要因素。

社交娱乐,卷无可卷

对以盈亏平衡为目标的网易云音乐而言,“苦大仇深”的在线音乐业务显然指望不上,唯有寄希望于社交娱乐服务这头绝对意义上的“现金牛”。

然而,网易云音乐社交娱乐服务的增势正在减弱。财报显示,2022年,网易云音乐社交服务收入52.9亿元,同比增长42.8%——同样的数字,2021年是63.1%。

这并非网易云音乐不够努力,而是源于直播赛道的衰落。无论腾讯音乐也好,文青属性较强的网易云音乐也罢,社交娱乐服务的支撑均是直播业务。

相比稳健的在线音乐业务,直播业务可谓相当极端。一方面,其具备很强的吸金能力,但另一方面,其缺乏抵御外部冲击的压力。而近年一路狂飙的短视频赛道,以及去年趋严的监管环境,都对直播赛道造成了不小的压力。

以触达天花板的腾讯音乐来看,其社交娱乐服务收入自2020年第四季度的高点以来一路滑落,而网易云虽仍处于增长态势,但行业天花板下落,同一屋檐下的网易云也难言长得能有多高。

去年年中,网络主播直播新规出台,直播赛道再遭打击,眼看直播赛道走低,“急于求成”的网易云音乐,转而扑向了社交赛道。

然而,不管是直播,还是社交,想要多赚钱,多少都要沾点“油腻”。这对腾讯音乐倒没有什么,再怎么油腻最多也就和全民K歌持平,可放在网易云音乐身上,情况却显得有些微妙。

尽管总是被嘲弄“网抑云”,但不得不承认,网易云音乐那充满文青气息的社区调性,是其有别于其他音乐平台的底牌。一个简单的例子,若是像QQ音乐那般直接把美女主播摆在主页,钱是能赚,但却会损害“云村”的氛围,得不偿失。

只是,网易云音乐既想将用户从音乐导向社交,又没有腾讯音乐那么多产品矩阵来嫁接业务需求,导致歌房、圈子、树洞、游戏房等杂七杂八的功能,被不断填进App——尽管新功能在具体的呈现上面显得比较谨慎,但随着App越来越冗杂,社区调性也正在被稀释。

在此背景下,试图朝着社交进击的网易云音乐,不得不将目光转向其独立App。2022年下半年,网易云音乐在社交领域动作频频,先是关停反响不佳的“音街”,然后陆续推出了音乐社交App“妙时”(前身为“MUS”)、“声域”,并且给老产品“心遇”刷了波密集投放。

只是,从宏观角度来看,社交赛道早已卷无可卷。不管是“Soul”,还是“心遇”,其本质均是贩卖用户的生意,玩法、模式均无壁垒,唯一的护城河在于可供匹配的海量用户池,新生力量所面临的挑战不言自明。

而用户体验的角度来看,“妙时”虽以“音乐匹配”为卖点,但内核仍是“心遇”那套烂俗的玩法——与其说是产品创新,不如说是给身处口碑洼地的“心遇”找一个接班人。前述种种因素叠加,网易云音乐去年推出的社交新品,数据层面难言可观。

化解内容心病

丁磊在2022年业绩电话会议里透露,音乐是一个非常长线的业务,未来的网易云音乐,将更多聚焦于创造优质内容。创造优质内容,这几个字看似简单,但实践起来却异常艰难。

就拿老生常谈的版权为例,尽管独家版权时代已然过去,内容成本骤降,但这并不意味着那些变灰的歌名都能迅速回归。毕竟头部版权的价格依然高企,而现阶段的网易云音乐必须考虑盈亏。

尽管2022年,网易云音乐先后与福茂唱片、SM娱乐、时代峰峻、YG娱乐、颜社、波丽佳音等达成了版权合作,但同杰威尔的“旧恨”,可能得等到今年才能化解。

获取内容还有一条路,即扶植原创音乐人。

财报显示,2022年,平台原创音乐人数量超61.1万,共创作了约260万首音乐曲目。就连丁磊都说,独立音乐人是网易云音乐最重要的服务对象之一。显然,网易云想要借此改写过于依赖版权方的局面,但话虽如此,除了低成本,且能体现一丁点网易云所谓的“温度”之外,原创音乐人对平台的价值相当有限。

一方面,原创音乐人认证门槛较低,在电商平台甚至有卖家兜售所谓的认证服务,价格在数十到数百元不等。在此背景下,入驻的原创音乐作品素质参差不齐,“音乐裁缝”接连涌现,大浪淘沙之下,只有极少数“金子”能够发光发热。

另一方面,不论网易云音乐“话术”如何,原创音乐人普遍的艰难的现状始终摆在这里。就拿我一朋友来说,大学时期,他作为成都某乐队主唱,可谓迷妹无数。

那时的他,曾想过一直把乐队做下去,奈何歌曲类型没法“向下兼容”,流量跑不起来,网易云粉丝一直停留在了几万,版税也就够聚聚餐、旅旅游。最后,他老实地找了个班上:“经济都不独立,做什么独立音乐人。”

换言之,腾讯音乐也好,网易云音乐也罢,各自的原创音乐人计划兴许能挖掘出一些不错的音乐人,但受限于国内音乐产业整体环境,难成生态。

即便网易云音乐推出了“音乐收藏家”,允许音乐人将自己的原创歌曲特定版税收益以竞拍的方式卖给用户,但就现阶段而言,该功能的“玩味”远大于实际价值,毕竟上一个试图打造UGC内容+用户付费闭环的虾米音乐,坟头草都已经没过膝盖了。

此外,网易云音乐还有自制内容一条路。但相比腾讯音乐,集团资源吃亏的网易云音乐,在内容协同方面略显不足。

以财报提及的“与网易游戏合作拓宽消费场景”为例,《王牌竞速》《我的世界》《蛋仔派对》等合作游戏加起来,亦很难同腾讯的“音乐公司”Riot Games相提并论。至于AI+音乐,听听故事就好,不必走心。

归根结底,在线音乐赛道的通病,网易云音乐基本都有,更有赛道其他玩家没有的“罕见病”,若是以盈利为目标,按网易云音乐现在的扭亏、增长节奏,问题不是很大,但若想在原本的基础上实现较大的突破,或将步履维艰。
