万亿本地零售,美团、抖音谁主沉浮?

美团到底有没有边界这件事又要被拿出来说道说道。往近了说,这意味着本地生活领域或者说本地零售行业的竞争

去年12月,美团与快手达成了“互联互通”战略合作,两家拥有腾讯“血液”的公司联手后,市场就认为本地生活领域战火重燃。今年8月、12月,抖音与饿了么、达达快送(达达集团旗下的本地即时配送平台)顺丰同城官宣合作后,印证了市场的观点。 

往远了说,这可以引申到BAT之间的竞争,美团到底有没有边界这件事又要被拿出来说道说道。往近了说,这意味着本地生活领域或者说本地零售行业的竞争已经走进了新阶段。 

平台之间的强强合作固然值得关注,但是,行业更大的推动力恐怕非疫情莫属。据阿里本地生活到店业务负责人谌伟业透露,疫情导致外卖用户规模和商家规模都实现了罕见的大幅增长。 

与此同时,目前占有优势的美团重新划分了业务的统计口径。原来按照业务性质划分的餐饮外卖、到店、酒店及旅游、新业务及其他,变成了核心本地商业和新业务两大板块。 

行业的大势所趋和头号玩家对业务逻辑的重新梳理,都在暗示着本地零售行业的发展节奏发生了变化。 

01 从外卖到万物到家

12月5日,顺丰同城、达达快送宣布与抖音达成合作。  抖音方面对节点财经表示,这次合作的方向以生活服务业务为主。

据官方介绍,“团购配送”是抖音生活服务基于商家和用户的实际需求,以及在平台上发现商家在进行自配送的背景下,为规范和提升配送服务质量,保障商家经营与用户体验,试点推出的团购套餐配送服务支持产品。  参考美团的发展路径,合作的指向也可以理解为本地零售。

在北美,生鲜及杂货配送服务平台Instacart在2020年、2021年完成了两轮融资,估值从137亿美元上升至390亿美元。有消息称Instacart目前的估值已经大幅下滑至130亿美元,但它在过去两年受到追捧的“历史”仍然证明了一个趋势,那就是资本看好行业前景。 

结合时间背景,疫情其实是推动Instacart、抖音生活服务发展的共同推手。谌伟业在今年8月曾透露过一组数据,可以作为一个参考。 

2020年,外卖市场的规模逆势增长,大概增长15%,规模为6600亿元,2021年增长至1万亿元;外卖占到餐饮总收入的20%以上。 

在此期间,外卖的用户规模也在大幅增长。截至2021年的12月末,中国的外卖用户规模达到5.4亿人,比2020年同期增加了1亿人。商家端同样如此,2021年整个外卖行业市场的商家注册量达到140多万家,同比增长了80%+。 

用户、商家、市场三者呈现的正向循环,意味着用户的消费习惯加速向外卖转移,而外卖的品类扩充(正餐、生鲜等)则改变了用户对这一业态的认知,“万物皆可送到家”已经深入人心。

用户认知的改变也催动了企业的发展方向出现了变化,比如美团改变了业务的统计口径,把成熟的业务和不成熟的业务分门别类,美团原来的口径是餐饮外卖、到店酒旅和新业务。 

同时,美团还改变了收入来源的统计口径。如果说业务统计口径让人看得有些云里雾里,那收入统计口径释放的信号就足够直接了。 

在今年二季度之前,美团的收入来源分为餐饮外卖配送服务、佣金、在线营销、其他服务及销售四部分。从今年二季度开始,美团隐去了“餐饮外卖配送服务”,它此前一直是美团的第一大收入来源。口径改变后,“配送服务”收入成为美团第一大收入来源,二季度的占比达到41.13%,三季度为43.4%。 

收入结构的改变,让美团所拥有的线下履约能力的重要性越来越高。 

王兴曾在一次电话会上提到过这样一句话,过去十年是信息的流动,未来十年是用技术实现物品的流动,核心是采购供应,实现物品的流动海豚社创始人、电商天使投资人李成东认为,  这意味着流量红利时代已是过去式,行业重心要回到商品流动上。

李成东分析道,大家最早都是流量逻辑,拼多多和抖快重新划分了行业的流量格局,此后再未出现能撼动流量格局的新产品,到最后拼的就是交付能力。 

02 谁才是最重要的因素?

美团联合创始人王慧文曾将互联网平台分为三类,分别是内容平台、商品平台和服务平台,美团属于最后一种。对于这三种平台来说,决定成败的因素是相同的。 

用户使用外卖服务的过程,就体现了平台之间的差异。 

首先,用户可能会带着已经明确的需求去外卖平台选购商品,也可能没有明确的需求。在平台端,如果信息的输出和匹配效率足够高,不管用户发出的需求是否明确,它都可以快速响应并给予满足。 

其次,用户下单后,商家的接单和配送的效率也影响着使用体验。在北京工作的刘洪(化名)对节点财经表示,根据他最近一周的体验看来,美团和饿了么在北京地区的运力资源不足,多次出现没有骑手接单的情况,严重影响体验。有商家对节点财经表示,这是由于疫情的影响,骑手比正常时期少了一半。尽管有特殊情况,但这也足够说明“效率”对体验有很大影响。 

可以说,效率是决定平台成败最关键的因素。 

外卖背后的本地零售行业的两大基础是商流和物流,其中的商流可以理解为平台为我们提供的商品,外卖就是其中之一;物流则是平台为用户和商家提供的配送服务,关于配送服务的细节我们稍后再展开。 

从日常的外卖场景来看,对建立在“商流”和“物流”基础上的本地零售行业来说,信息输出效率和履约效率就是最重要的“效率”。也就是说,只要平台的这两个效率足够高,或者优于同行,那就会处于领先地位。 

这在美团在外卖战场上取得的优势就有所体现。2018年4月,阿里全资收购饿了么,当时美团和饿了么在外卖市场的份额比约为6:4。被阿里收购后,饿了么的份额不断下滑,目前与美团的比值约为7:3。 

市场用脚投票的结果,说明了谁的效率更高,而美团和饿了么的差异主要体现在运力方面。 

2016年春节前后,百度外卖选择让其骑手放假,而美团则相反,在春节期间加大对骑手的补贴,留住了运力。春节过后,百度外卖的运力出现不足。此消彼长下,美团外卖和饿了么分走了百度外卖的部分市场份额。 

此后,美团的运力优势逐步扩大,截至2021年已拥有约500万骑手,饿了么约有144万骑手,达达集团不到100万。 

履约效率不同在业绩上的体现是,饿了么的收入规模始终低于美团。在2018Q3(饿了么于Q2被收购),美团外卖的收入超过110亿元,阿里本地生活业务的收入刚超过50亿元,被收购一年后,双方的差距拉大到60亿元左右。饿了么在这期间保持了增长,但已经追不上美团,这个情况一直持续至今。 

03 1万亿,谁的囊中物?

2018年是美团发展历史上一个微妙的特殊年份。在这一年,美团成功上市并上线了“美团闪购”,这是美团针对本地零售行业推出的独立品牌(主要针对便利店、专卖店等,主打30分钟到家)。在此前一年,美团在月活上完成了对饿了么的超越。 

也就是说,美团早在2018年就着手转向,开始站在本地零售行业的角度上去调整业务。疫情暴发后,美团推出了社区团购业务“美团优选”和“美团买菜”。至此,美团在本地零售(也可以叫做即时零售)的业务矩阵已经初见雏形。 

美团的调整既有内因也有外因。据中国连锁经营协会数据,预计到2026年底,本地零售行业市场规模将超过1万亿元。 

如此诱人的蛋糕,任何人都无法视而不见。包括整合了饿了么的阿里在内,行业内的参与者至少可分为两类。上面曾提到,行业的两大基础是商流和物流,它们也是划分阵营的标签。 

第一类是有商流优势,如三大电商平台;第二类有物流优势,如顺丰、达达集团。沿着这两大基础,也衍生出了两大路径。 

其一是以商流为基础,延伸到物流,阿里和京东是代表。其二是从物流出发,向上扩展至商流。 

另外,还有一个不同的“物种”,那便是抖音。与前两者至少拥有商流或物流一方面的优势不同的是,抖音在这两大基础上都有欠缺。 

抖音是短视频行业一哥,更高效的信息分发模式和技术是抖音的“杀手锏”。短视频战事结束后,抖音获得了流量和信息分发技术两件武器。前面提到过,信息输出效率恰恰是决定本地零售平台成败的关键之一,而抖音的问题也在于此,它 “难为无米之炊”。

具体来说,抖音的本地商流还不够强,节点财经了解到其本地服务还处于前期测试阶段。目前,用户想要在抖音中享受和美团或者饿了么平台中的“30分钟到家”服务,一种方式是进入第三方的小程序,如与抖音官方合作的饿了么。另一种是身处已经开通试点的城市,抖音在今年10月才开始进行超市类的招商,首批试点地区为深圳、广州、惠州、东莞。 

此外,抖音电商的超市比较深,如果直接搜索也无法直达,这与我们上面提到的平台应提高“信息输出效率”是相悖的。 

这些因素叠加后的结果是,抖音生活服务的规模与美团到店业务存在巨大差距。据36氪报道,今年10月,抖音生活服务GMV超过百亿元。交银国际研报指出,美团到店业务2022年的GMV约为2360亿元。与之相似的还有达达集团,尽管有京东和沃尔玛的商流加持,但它的规模仍远小于美团。 

综合下来,美团拥有相对的优势,那么它会一家独大吗?节点财经认为,美团一家独大的局面不会永远持续下去,2/3寡头分天下才是终局。浙商证券曾经对行业GMV做过测算、推演,认为到2025年,美团的份额约为60%,其次是阿里系(24%),京东系是第三名(11%)。 

复盘行业各个细分领域的发展过程,行业格局变化过程都是相似的:从分散到一家独大再到2/3个寡头。 

以到店为例,美团发现部分用户对价格较为敏感后,进而主打低星酒店,这让美团在市场上有了一席之地。在刚进入外卖市场时,美团主打白领市场,这是被饿了么忽视的方向。
