高端矿泉水的“黑暗森林”

元气森林、三顿半、恒大冰泉纷纷入局,这个品类真“有矿”吗?

市场规模上,欧睿国际的数据显示,2020年中国包装饮用水零售规模高达2159亿元,同时,欧睿国际预测,2025年,我国包装水市场规模将达3131亿元。

包装饮用水中细分类目的矿泉水市场规模,也在不断的增长,据中研普华研究院发布的《2022-2027年中国矿泉水行业深度调研及投资前景预测研究报告》显示,2020年中国矿泉水市场规模约为690亿元,且在未来仍将以10%左右的增速继续增长,预计2024年矿泉水市场规模将突破1000亿元。

不断增速的市场规模面前,各路玩家的热情也一路高涨。近日,元气森林和三顿半接连发布矿泉水相关的新品,前者为黑金新包装的“有矿”软矿泉水,后者为弱碱性“山泉水”;恒大冰泉也于近期上市了一款名为“深矿泉”的偏硅酸型天然矿泉水。

品牌接二连三发布新品的同时,引发了外界对矿泉水赛道的关注,毕竟一个是矿泉水领域的老玩家,另外两个则是新消费的玩家,新老品牌冲击相同的市场,引发行业中品牌更迭的戏码,向来具有吸引力。

此外,回顾以往,新消费品牌从某种意义上,也是消费趋势变化的晴雨表,而元气森林和三顿半,一个揭开了国内气泡水发展的序章,另外一个则开启了精品即溶咖啡的大门,因此,其产品布局上的新动作,或许也释放出一些消费趋势变化的信号。

同时,放在饮用水整体市场的大盘下,精细化发展的趋势则较为明显,一批主打婴幼儿饮用水、运动功能以及低钠等特点的产品接连出现,似乎也预示了消费者对于产品多样性的需求提高了。

在这样的背景下,过往因开创新品类而崛起的新消费品牌,能否在饮用水的战场里,书写新的故事,颇为令人期待。

01.市场争夺战从水源打到零售终端

两位新消费品牌玩家,入局矿泉水的产品稍有不同。

三顿半近期上线的矿泉水更类似于咖啡伴侣的定位,在其天猫旗舰店内,饮用天然矿泉水与椰汁和燕麦奶同时放置于咖啡配饮一栏下。

元气森林则在今年三月对去年7月上线的“天然软矿泉水”产品“有矿”进行了品牌升级,在推出“钻石瓶”新包装的同时,开启全国线下渠道市场铺货。

新消费品牌之外,恒大冰泉也于本月完成了战略升级,并推出了一款名为“深矿泉”的偏硅酸型天然矿泉水,再早一些的今年年初,常年盘踞饮用水前三的怡宝也推出了高端矿泉水“露”,值得注意的是,作为常年领跑中国包装饮用水市场占有率第一的农夫山泉,在2021年也推出了“长白雪”这款天然矿泉水产品。

显然,众多品牌将目光聚焦在了高端的矿泉水市场上,而高端矿泉水也更考验品牌的综合实力,尤其是在优质水资源的把控上。

相较于纯净水,天然矿泉水除需要是从地下深处自然涌出的或是经人工揭露的、未受污染的地下矿水外,还需要满足国家饮用矿泉水GB8537的国标,此外,还需要具有采矿许可证号和鉴定证号。

而这显然也提升了企业在进入天然矿泉水时门槛,或许也基于此,无论是从农夫山泉的“长白雪”还是到怡宝的“露”或是恒大冰泉的“深矿泉”以及元气森林的“有矿”,皆对水源地多有提及。

比如公开资料显示,农夫山泉的“长白雪”水源来自中国矿泉水带之一的长白山,百岁山则拥有罗浮山脉的百岁山生产基地,元气森林的有矿水源地则在大理苍山,且水龄达16年以上。

除水源外,在市场的争夺上,从零售终端的价格上,不同品牌采取的策略也有所不同。

元气森林、三顿半、百岁山、农夫山泉的矿泉水,每瓶的零售价都处于3元的价格区间内,恒大冰泉近日推出的深矿泉这一矿泉水产品,则在售价上进一步下探到2元一瓶(500ml)。

而值得注意的是,2元的价格区间在包装饮用水中,农夫山泉、怡宝等自然落在其中,因此恒大冰泉以纯净水的价格推出天然矿泉水产品,其剑之所指或已明了。

02.高利润、低市场占有率让矿泉水成为新标的

品牌争相布局矿泉水市场,既与整体的瓶装水市场的结构变化有关,也与利润相关。

天然矿泉水、天然饮用水以及纯净水是长期以来国内瓶装水的主要组成,其中天然矿泉水受限于价格、产地等因素,在市场占有率中相对于其他两类较低。

公开数据显示,2021年全国终端零售销量统计,其中天然矿泉水的占比为7.49%,天然水的占比为18.44%,占比最高的为纯净水达到了60.44%,其他则是市场份额相对较少的风味水、苏打水等。

而与天然矿泉水占比较低对应的则是其较高的销售额CAGR(复合年均增长率),据欧睿预测,2019-2024年天然矿泉水/天然饮用水/纯净水销售额CAGR分别为10.0%/10.5%/7.1%。

在相对较高的销售额CAGR之外,相较于国外天然矿泉水在市场占比中的差值,也进一步加大了矿泉水市场的想象空间。

中研普华研究院的研究报告显示,我国消费者目前仍以纯净水和天然水为主,2019年仅纯净水的零售额就占整体瓶装饮用水零售额的60.4%,而对比来看,据此前招商证券发布的一项调研显示,在日本及西欧等发达国家和地区,消费者更认可天然矿泉水,天然矿泉水的市场占比早已达到80%以上。

此外,随着消费者对健康的追求,也让高端矿泉水在市场规模上不断扩张,据尼尔森数据显示,目前中国市场高端水的增长率高达46%~50%。

显然,无论是从销售额增长上,还是在国内瓶装水的市场结构上,天然矿泉水的机会和潜力都有待品牌们挖掘。

而此前京东超市对外分享的一组数据,或许也道出了品牌纷纷入局矿泉水的另外原因——更高的利润。

在京东超市发布的《2021水饮行业创新趋势报告》中提到,伴随着传统1元水消费增速的下滑,利润率更高的3元及以上的中高端水市场成为巨头争夺的焦点,中高端饮用水正在被越来越多的消费者接受,其市场增长空间也随之打开。

高端矿泉水品类所体现出的高毛利,正让更多的品牌对这一品类寄予厚望。

高端矿泉水品牌西藏5100在去年4月发布的业绩报告,也揭开了高端矿泉水毛利上的神秘面纱,当时的业绩报告显示,截止2020年西藏5100的毛利率达43.6%。

值得注意的是,在高峰时期的2013年,西藏5100的毛利率曾一度达到81.2%,对比来看,作为饮用水行业老大的农夫山泉,在2021年的毛利为59.5%。

03.天然矿泉水的黑暗森林法则

中国食品产业分析师 朱丹蓬此前在接受采访时曾谈到,随着整个消费者健康意识提升以及整个消费升级之后,矿泉水一定会成为未来饮用水新的增长极以及新的引擎。

但一个不容忽视的事是,随着商业竞争的日趋复杂与多元化,当下对于矿泉水品牌更大的威胁往往来自于异业的跨界入局。

就像农夫山泉,当它凭借天然矿泉水概念和怡宝死磕的时候,可能没想到日后自己在包装饮用水的业务上会遭到凭借气泡水起家的元气森林的突袭。

刘慈欣在《三体II 黑暗森林》中提到,“他必须小心,因为林中到处都有与他一样潜行的猎人,如果他发现了别的生命,能做的只有一件事:开枪消灭之。”

虽然目前来看,在高端矿泉水的“黑暗森林”里还很难说谁会先开枪,但农夫山泉显然早就已经暴露在所有的竞争对手面前了。

至于竞争对手有谁,以前的农夫山泉可能不在乎,毕竟即便是在当年面对许家印狂砸百亿做恒大冰泉时,作为农夫山泉创始人的钟睒睒曾发出豪言,“我们从未将恒大放在竞争对手的位置上。”

但现在,绝不可能。他不仅要面对像怡宝、百岁山这样的行业老人在高端矿泉水市场上的狙击,还要面对咄咄逼人的新消费品牌对市场的掠夺。

作为有着资本新贵之称的元气森林,在去年拿下新一轮近2亿美元融资后,其投后估值达150亿美元,在资金充足的同时,除在气泡水饮料上有所交锋外,在线下渠道,元气森林也早已通过落地智能零售柜的方式,深耕线下渠道与农夫山泉进行肉搏,据了解,截至到2021年,元气森林智能冰柜投放量已经超过18万台。

在之前与媒体交流的过程中,其创始人唐彬森在回答“还有像气泡水一样大的品类吗”这一问题时,曾直接回应称,“矿泉水是其中之一。”

无论如何,争夺已经开始,高端矿泉水的黑暗森林,分外值得期待。
