厮杀转向上游,儿童奶酪棒内卷不休丨氪金

儿童奶酪棒淘汰赛来了。

今年6月以前,商超里各大奶酪棒品牌折扣力度基本长期维持在五折至九折不等,进入下半年,陆续有媒体报道,各大品牌之间儿童奶酪棒营销战逐渐偃旗息鼓。

这两年来,儿童奶酪棒大单品快速放量的背景下,行业竞争进一步加剧,但由于产品同质化和渠道资源争夺激烈,短期供给量的增长快于消费量的增长,大单品逻辑逐渐失效。

儿童奶酪赛道变得拥挤起来,不仅像妙可蓝多这样的行业龙头患上“资金焦虑症”,妙飞、奶酪博士等新兴势力也开始加码布局。不久前,奶酪博士宣布投资近10亿元建厂,试图追上妙可蓝多2021年底投资8亿元建设奶酪基地的脚步。

从轻资产到重投入,儿童奶酪棒企业比拼的范围不再局限于市占率,更是将触角伸向全产业链,同时这场烧钱大战的成本也被越推越高。

以“奶酪第一股”妙可蓝多为例,2021年,妙可蓝多通过增发A股对外募集约30亿元。到2022年上半年,妙可蓝多账上短期借款又达到9.60亿元,同比增长228.77%。同期,公司经营活动产生的现金流量净额则由正转负,为-1.75亿元。

在食品安全风险、市场竞争加剧等老生常谈的问题之外,奶酪棒行业又多一项产能扩充不达预期的风险,负重前行的奶酪棒企业们还能走多远?

营销、内卷与“智商税”

儿童奶酪棒自推向市场以来就伴随着争议,由于产品研发门槛较低,同质化、“智商税”等问题几乎已是行业公开的秘密。

与商家宣传不同的是,主打高蛋白、高钙的奶酪棒产品实际上并不是一种健康零食。据了解,奶酪棒产品属于“再制干酪”,是在奶酪基础上再加工的产物,通常含有较高的糖和脂肪。

按照现行实施的国家标准,“再制干酪”产品中干酪添加量只要大于15%即符合国标,且干酪的含量不是强制性标明的项目。翻看儿童奶酪棒的配料表不难发现,市面上多数产品的配料依次为水、奶油,干酪仅排在第三位。

在2021年7月的奶酪发展高峰论坛上,光明乳业原料奶酪营销中心总经理龚群曾指出:目前奶酪终端市场拼的就是奶酪棒,而且这些奶酪棒设计同质化、包装同质化、卖点同质化,“配料表大家都知道,大家做的都差不多。”

不仅外观和配方大同小异,不少品牌的产品甚至出自同一家代工厂。资料显示,山东君君乳酪累计代工的奶酪棒品牌有20多个,包括妙飞、奶酪博士、熊猫、思克奇、认养一头牛等,几乎涵盖了市面上能叫出名的绝大多数玩家。

在产品质量上,妙可蓝多、奶酪博士等都曾在黑猫投诉上因“发霉、变质、吃出异物”等理由遭遇消费者投诉。

尽管质疑声重重,凭借声势浩大的营销,儿童奶酪棒属于典型的“流量护城河”行业。

“奶酪第一股”妙可蓝多的发家就是瞄准了这样的机会。2019年,创始人柴琇向银行贷款5亿元,开启了大规模的广告投放。一时间,妙可蓝多《两只老虎》改编的洗脑式口水歌席卷央视及地方卫视频道的黄金时段,“奶酪就选妙可蓝多”的slogan也出现在在一、二线城市十万个楼宇的梯媒广告中。

只要舍得砸钱,妙可蓝多的套路并不难模仿。奶酪棒货架上的动画IP由汪汪队一路扩展到超级飞侠、海底小纵队、艾莎公主和大头儿子。妙飞和吉士汀更是追随妙可蓝多的脚步,花费近亿元与分众传媒达成合作,将洗脑式的广告塞进电梯间。

价格战下,企业增长失速?

据中国奶业协会的预计,未来三到五年,我国奶酪业务将继续保持高增长态势,2022年市场规模有望达到150亿元。

在行业热度达到高峰之时,大量参与者的加入使奶酪棒市场出现阶段性供过于求的局面,最终演变为一场混乱的价格战。

柴琇曾在2021年7月向媒体透露,奶酪行业价格战从2020年就已开始,且呈现常态化趋势。

前后一年多的时间里,大批缺乏溢价能力的小品牌在9.9元、12.9元的薄利竞争中被踢出局,背后有资本撑腰的的头部厂商也多有损伤。

价格战让企业陷入盈利承压的局面。2019年-2021年,妙可蓝多的销售费用分别为3.59亿元、7.10亿元和11.59亿元,复合增速远远高于营收水平。2021年,妙可蓝多研发投入为4009万元,同期广告营销费用则高达9亿元,两者相差高达二十余倍。

华安证券数据也显示,随着市场竞争加剧和基数变大,2022年奶酪零售额增速预计为16.8%,远低于2020和2021年。

尽管行业的内耗已于今年6月暂时告一段落。但站在更长远的角度上来看,随着奶酪棒“大单品”式的增速放缓,各大企业现阶段均面临品类创新和同质化、消费人群拓展等问题。

乳业分析师宋亮对36氪表示,我国奶酪市场B端与C端的消费量占比约为7:3。在C端市场,除竞争激烈的儿童低温奶酪市场,常温奶酪产品、成人奶酪产品将是诸多企业未来寻求增量的路径。

其中,常温奶酪棒有望打破冷链物流的限制,在三四线城市实现消费者扩容,但无法摆脱同质化竞争的困局,仍有换汤不换药之嫌。因此,更多的企业将目光放在了家庭餐桌与餐饮渠道上。

华安证券研报数据显示,我国奶酪消费集中在儿童群体,奶酪认知有待提升。2020年奶酪零售额占比达到64%,而家庭佐餐消费和成人消费仅占33%和3%。同时,有52%的调研人群仅购买儿童奶酪,同时购买全部品类的占比仅有1%。

而想要在市场规模占比更大的餐饮市场,与恒天然、百吉福等资深外资品牌掰手腕也并非易事。

早在2016年,恒天然就推出了专门服务于B端餐饮渠道的“安佳专业乳品专业伙伴”品牌,从单纯卖奶酪和黄油,转变为向餐饮客户提供定制化的配方方案。截至目前,安佳餐饮服务业务已覆盖全国350个城市,已进入餐饮代工厂、中式烘焙、中餐及火锅等多个领域。

按照官方的说法,中国人每吃掉两个比萨或每消费两块乳脂蛋糕,就有一块用到了恒天然的乳制品。使用安佳产品制作的奶盖茶2017年销量达到2亿杯,2018年增长至5亿杯,“恒天然在这个市场占有率预估在90%左右”。

目前来看,能够接替儿童奶酪棒成为行业下一个增长引擎尚未出现,这份预期距离真正落地,还有着遥远的距离。

一个证据是,“奶酪龙头”妙可蓝多在二级市场正遭受冷遇,自2021年达到84.5元/股的高点后,妙可蓝多的股价便进入了波动下行的阶段,截至目前仅报32.42元/股,市值较一年前抹去近六成。

行业新风向

在液态奶市场增长逐年放缓的背景下,奶酪作为“乳制品消费升级的最终产物”,正在成为乳企新的优质标的。

作为妙可蓝多的控股股东,蒙牛一直在向其“输血”。不久前,妙可蓝多披露要约收购报告书,其控股股东蒙牛拟斥资近8亿元收购妙可蓝多5%的股份。

据统计,此次要约收购完成后,蒙牛在控股妙可蓝多上已累计投入41亿元,持股比例将升至35%。蒙牛之外,伊利、光明等乳品巨头也在加快脚步。

传统乳企阵营中,伊利凭借传统渠道优势快速铺货,上半年已完成50万家门店覆盖。蒙牛向妙可蓝多频频示好的同时,还联手欧洲乳业巨头Arla推出了高端奶酪品牌“爱氏晨曦”。

妙飞、奶酪博士作为新消费品牌的代表,则赢得了一众知名资本的青睐。前者的背后站着高瓴创投、经纬中国、钟鼎资本,后者则拿下了红杉中国和今日资本。加上早些年打入中国市场的百吉福、安佳、乐芝牛等外资品牌,奶酪市场已相当拥挤。

有市场观点认为,不论是市场角度还是政策方向来看,奶酪棒行业已经进入淘汰赛阶段。

《食品安全国家标准再制干酪和干酪制品》(GB25192-2022)新国标即将在2022年年12月30日正式实施。新国标中,再制干酪的原料干酪使用比例调整到50%及以上,而将添加15%到50%原料干酪的产品定义为干酪或奶酪制品。

乳业分析师宋亮认为,新国标的出炉对于规范奶酪行业的行为会有较大帮助,干酪添加的越多并不意味着口感就会更好,因此新国标会倒逼企业在品牌和渠道竞争之外,更加重视品质和工艺等提升,也会让行业竞争更加健康有序,行业分化也会进一步提速。

实际上,早在新国标意见稿披露之后,妙可蓝多、奶酪博士及百吉福等企业就推出了干酪含量高于50%的奶酪棒产品。

巧合的是,这三家企业分别可以视作三种奶酪企业的代表——奶企背深厚的奶酪龙头、资本扶持的新消费代表,深耕中国市场25年的法国企业。

在前一轮营销战中,以百吉福为代表的外资品牌显然没能干过更懂中国市场口味的本土品牌。但随着竞争方向转向奶源、营养添加、植物蛋白,新消费逐渐退潮的大背景下,还很难下定论谁是最后赢家。
